Why this happens while you take semaglutide
These medicines slow the rate at which your stomach empties. Food stays in your stomach longer, which can cause heartburn and indigestion, especially after large or fatty meals.

“associated with OZEMPIC (frequencies listed, respectively, as: placebo; 0.5 mg; 1 mg): dyspepsia (1.9%, 3.5%, 2.7%), eructation (0%, 2.7%, 1.1%), flatulence (0.8%, 0.4%, 1.5%), gastroesophageal”

What helps, step by step
- For now, avoid spicy and fatty foods.
- After eating, stay upright rather than lying down.
- Eat smaller meals and stop when you feel full. These medicines slow down how fast your stomach empties.
- Eat slowly. It takes some time before your brain notices that you are full.
- Reduce fatty, greasy and sugary foods, which often cause symptoms.
- If it does not ease, let your prescriber know. They may slow your dose increases or recommend a different GLP-1.
Before taking any drugstore product, check it with the GLP-1 interactions checker.
