- For adults and children 12 and older with obesity, it supports weight loss and long-term weight maintenance alongside diet and activity.

Scam signals
- A seller that bypasses the prescription requirement is not a licensed US pharmacy.
- A price well below what the manufacturer charges: self-pay prices for the brand start at $149 a month
- A compounded drug marketed under a brand name is not FDA approved, so it is not one of Ozempic, Wegovy, Mounjaro or Zepbound brand medicines.
- Salt forms: The approved drugs use an active ingredient other than semaglutide sodium and semaglutide acetate, according to the source.
- Telehealth companies received 30 warning letters from the FDA about misleading claims that their product is the same as the brand.
- Harm reports: the FDA has 990 adverse event reports linked to compounded semaglutide.
- A program faced FTC action because its monthly price left out the drug, as the NextMed review shows.
