Why it happens on semaglutide
The stomach empties more slowly because of these medicines. Food takes longer to leave, which can cause sulfur burps, especially following large or fatty meals.

What helps, step by step
- Eat less sugary food and fewer highly processed foods.
- Right after taking your dose, eat fewer high-fiber foods.
- Eat smaller meals and stop when you feel full. These medicines cause the stomach to empty more slowly.
- Eat slowly. Your brain needs time to recognize when you are full.
- Often, fatty, greasy and sugary foods lead to symptoms, so go easy on them.
- If it does not ease, tell your prescriber. They may slow the increases in your dose, or they may suggest a different GLP-1.
Before taking anything from the drugstore, check it with the GLP-1 interactions checker.
