Wegovy and painkillers: the verdict
Fine with care
The Wegovy label states this, quoted directly, in its drug interactions section:
“WEGOVY causes a delay of gastric emptying and thereby has the potential to impact the absorption of concomitantly administered oral medications. In clinical pharmacology trials”

What the Wegovy label says
The Wegovy label does not name painkillers (ibuprofen, acetaminophen). Those points still apply to it.
| Named in the label | The risk | What the label tells doctors |
|---|---|---|
| Oral medicines | Pills absorbed differently | It causes stomach emptying to slow, which can alter how other pills are absorbed. |

The practical rule
- Drink enough fluids, and ask your pharmacist which painkiller is right for you, especially if you have kidney trouble or stomach trouble.
- Let the person who prescribes your GLP-1 know about all the pills you take. Include this one in what you tell them.
- Ask your pharmacist if any of your pills need a steady blood level. A check may be needed for them when you start or raise the dose.

Painkillers with other GLP-1s
None of the 10 GLP-1 labels names painkillers (ibuprofen, acetaminophen) in its drug interaction section. All of them include the same general caution for pills you swallow, which means the answer applies across the class.
Use the same question when you ask about Ozempic, Mounjaro, Zepbound.
