Scam signals
- No prescription needed: A seller that does not require one cannot be a pharmacy licensed in the US.
- Brand prices well below the manufacturer’s rate: $149 a month is the lowest self-pay cost.
- Sold as the brand but compounded: the FDA has not approved these drugs, so none of them count as Ozempic, Wegovy, Mounjaro or Zepbound.
- Salt forms: semaglutide sodium and semaglutide acetate are different from the active ingredient in the approved drugs.
- Claims that it is the same as the brand: The FDA sent 30 warning letters to telehealth companies over misleading claims.
- Harm reports: The FDA holds 990 adverse event reports connected to compounded semaglutide.
- A monthly price that does not include the drug: The FTC took action against one program for this practice; read the NextMed program review.
