Coverage for seniors
For diabetes or cardiovascular disease, Medicare Part D may cover these medicines when they are prescribed
Part D plans may cover a GLP-1 for type 2 diabetes, fatty liver disease, or moderate to severe sleep apnea
When a GLP-1 is prescribed only for weight loss, no payment comes from Medicare Part D
When Medicaid covers weight-loss GLP-1s, prior authorization is the standard.
