Coverage for seniors
For a diabetes or cardiovascular disease prescription, these medicines can be covered by Medicare Part D.
Coverage from Part D plans may apply to a GLP-1 used for type 2 diabetes, moderate to severe sleep apnea, or fatty liver disease.
Medicare Part D does not pay for a GLP-1 when you take it only to lose weight.
Under the Medicare GLP-1 Bridge, Wegovy has a listed monthly price of $50 for people who meet its rules.
Wherever Medicaid covers weight-loss GLP-1s, prior authorization is the norm.
