Why it happens on semaglutide

These medicines slow how quickly the stomach empties. Food remains in your stomach longer, which can cause vomiting, especially after large or fatty meals.

Ozempic label: what it states

About vomiting, the label says the following word for word:

“majority of the reported events occurred in patients who experienced gastrointestinal reactions leading to dehydration such as nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea [see Adverse Reactions (6.1)].”

What helps, step by step

  1. Sip water often to prevent dehydration.
  2. After a meal, remain upright instead of lying down.
  3. Ask your prescriber about having a nausea medicine on hand.
  4. Eat smaller-sized meals, and stop eating once you feel full. These medicines slow down how fast the stomach empties.
  5. Eat slowly. Your brain needs time to recognize when you are full.
  6. Reduce fatty, greasy and sugary foods, because these often cause symptoms.
  7. Let your prescriber know if it does not ease. They may slow the increases in dose or suggest a different GLP-1.

Before taking any drugstore product, check it with the GLP-1 interactions checker.
