The practical rule

  1. Keep taking both as prescribed. Tell your doctor if stomach upset continues.
  2. Tell the person who prescribes your GLP-1 about every pill you take, including this one.
  3. Ask your pharmacist whether any pills you take need a steady blood level. They may need to be checked when you start treatment or increase the dose.
  4. More frequent blood sugar checks are needed during the first weeks and following every dose increase.

Metformin with other GLP-1s

None of the 10 GLP-1 labels name Metformin in the drug interaction section. Across the class, the answer is the same, since each medicine carries the same general caution for swallowed pills.

Regarding Ozempic, Wegovy, Rybelsus, Mounjaro, Zepbound, Trulicity, the same question applies.
