- The drug lowers heart attack, stroke, and heart-related death risks in adults who have heart disease and type 2 diabetes.
- The drug lowers risks of worsening kidney disease, kidney failure, and heart-related death in adults who have chronic kidney disease and type 2 diabetes.

Scam signals
- A seller that does not require a prescription lacks a US pharmacy license.
- A price far below what the manufacturer charges: for the brand, you pay $149 a month at the lowest self-pay price.
- A compounded drug lacks FDA approval, so it is not Ozempic, Wegovy, Mounjaro or Zepbound, even if sellers present it as the brand.
- Salt forms: approved drugs use neither semaglutide sodium nor semaglutide acetate as the active ingredient, notes.
- Claims of a match with the brand: 30 warning letters went to telehealth companies over misleading claims.
- Adverse event reports linked to compounded semaglutide: the listed total is 990.
- A monthly fee that excludes the medicine: the FTC acted against one program for this; see the NextMed review.
