Scam signals
- No prescription needed: sellers who skip the prescription are not licensed US pharmacies.
- Well below the price the manufacturer charges for a brand: paying on your own, the lowest cost for that brand comes to $149 a month.
- Compounded drugs sold as the brand: they lack FDA approval, so Ozempic, Wegovy, Mounjaro and Zepbound are not among them.
- According to the source, semaglutide acetate and semaglutide sodium are salt forms, and they are not the active ingredient found in approved drugs.
- The FDA issued 30 warning letters to telehealth companies over misleading claims that their products were the same as the brand.
- Harm reports: Compounded semaglutide is linked to 990 FDA adverse event reports.
- Harm reports: Compounded tirzepatide is linked to more than 730 FDA adverse event reports.
- A price per month with no drug included: one program faced FTC action for this; see NextMed review.
