How the rule works in practice

  1. Food or fluids that will not stay down require a call to your doctor that same day.
  2. Tell whoever prescribes your GLP-1 about every pill you take, including this one.
  3. Have your pharmacist check whether any of your pills need to maintain a steady blood level. Starting the medicine or raising the dose may require a check of these pills.
  4. Check your blood sugar more often in the first weeks and following each dose increase.

Jardiance with other GLP-1s

None of the 10 GLP-1 labels mentions Jardiance (empagliflozin) in their drug interaction sections. Each label gives the same general caution about pills you swallow, so the answer stays the same for this drug class.

The question remains the same for Ozempic, Rybelsus, Mounjaro, Victoza.
