Ozempic plateau: the numbers first

When Ozempic was tested, the main focus was blood sugar. Wegovy contains the same medicine at a higher dose, and the weight trials below cover it.

Reasons for the stall, and what helps

  1. See which dose step you are on. Across all the trials listed above, people taking lower doses lost less weight.
  2. Count the doses you missed or took late during the past month.
  3. Note down what you eat and drink over a few days. As portions get smaller, liquid calories and grazing add up.
  4. Eat protein at every meal and continue your strength exercise. That way, fat makes up most of the weight you lose.
  5. Check your sleep and stress, since both affect appetite.
  6. Ask your pharmacist if any other medicines you take could cause weight gain.
  7. If you stall for months, ask your prescriber about changing medicines. Talk about a thyroid or blood sugar check too.
